Welcome (Croeso) to the Delta Welsh Heritage website!
Beginning in the 1840s, slate quarrymen from the north of Wales emigrated in large numbers to work in the quarries of Delta, PA, and Cardiff, MD, which produced the world-famous Peach Bottom Slate. These pages are a tribute to the rich heritage of Welsh culture they brought with them, and which is still celebrated in the area today. Here you will also find a guide to the sights and events open for public enjoyment and education.
Events 2013
Harford Community College Welsh Heritage Project
Harford Community College, Bel Air, Maryland, has been awarded a grant from the Maryland State Arts Council to study and promote the Living Traditions of the Welsh in the Delta/Cardiff area.
Students from the college will spend time interviewing those whose heritage is closely connected with the area, along with others who are part of promoting the local Welsh culture.
The Project will culminate in a Welsh Heritage Day at the college on Tuesday, April 30, 2013, featuring exhibits, food, dance, and an evening concert by Rehoboth Welsh Choir.
